They heat a home with an electric heatpump while outdoor temperatures are within the range where the heat pump performs well.
When temperatures fall below that range, the system switches to a gas or oil furnace to give the homeowner the more efficient choice for every outdoor condition.
More Cash in your Pocket. When you sell more equipment, you make more profit! You, the dealer, make more profit from selling a gas furnace AND a heat pump than from selling a single unit.
Happy Customers. Customers will be pleased with their increased comfort level and with their savings* on utility bills.
Tech Tips.
1.Set up the dual fuel system to shut off the heat pump automatically at a certain outside temperature, so the customer doesn’t have to have to remember to do it manually.
2.To determine what temperature is right for the installation:
♦It’s important to make an evaluation of the home and determine the appropriate shut-off temperature for your location.
♦While the standard changeover from heat pump to gas furnace is 32°, it may vary with location or homeowner lifestyle. Some dealers:
-vary the changeover for houses with better insulation;
-raise the temperature up to 40° for homeowners who are older; and lower the changeover temperature for homeowners who just don’t want to use the gas heat until absolutely necessary.
* Actual savings varies depending on the location and size of the home, efficiency of your heating system, home insulation, air leaks, type of windows and other factors.
